NEWSLETTER

March 27, 2006

No, you didn't miss it… we didn't have a chance to send out a newsletter last month. Sorry about that! But we're back with all sorts of news.

YELLOWSTONE IN WINTER, JANUARY 20-26, 2007
The price for the Yellowstone workshop next year has been set at $2,995. This price includes photographic instruction, transportation by van and snowcoach, all meals, guide services and lodging throughout the workshop. This seven day long adventure starts and ends in Bozeman, Montana.

Please visit our website for more information:

STAYING IN PHOENIX

In an attempt to facilitate matters for participants coming to Phoenix, we have in the past partnered with a local hotel to provide inexpensive accommodations and a shuttle service. The hotel we previously recommended is being torn down on May 1st to make way for luxury condos. The new hotel we are using is:
The Best Western Central Phoenix Inn
    1100 N Central Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85004
    Phone number: 602-252-2100

Be sure to mention code "AHPW" when you register to get the following special rates:
Now through May 14, 2006 $103 + tax
May 15 to Oct. 15, 2006 $ 69 + tax
Oct. 16 to Dec. 31, 2006 $103 + tax

Workshops that depart from Phoenix will now depart from the hotel mentioned above rather than from our office building.

SLOT CANYONS WITH JERRY SIEVE
Spaces are still available for the May 5-9 "Slot Canyons" workshop with Jerry Sieve. Jerry finds the landscape around Page, Arizona to be one of the most photographically friendly areas in the state. He says "Slot Canyons are some of the best and at the same time some of the easiest subjects in which to make images."

Maybe that's why this workshop has the most extensive gallery on our website. See if these photos will entice you to attend:

TRIP CANCELLATION INSURANCE
On a recent workshop FOUR people cancelled within three days of the workshop start date due to health, family and work-related issues. Emergencies do come up at the last minute, which is why Michelle and I always recommend participants purchase trip cancellation insurance. Forms from Travelex (http://www.travelex-insurance.com) are included in all the confirmation packets we send out, but there are other companies that can serve your needs. Please consider this valuable insurance to ward against the unexpected.

Here are a couple of websites where you can compare rates and types of coverage:

BIG BEND WITH DAVID MUENCH, April 20-26
Speaking of cancellations, some strange alignment of planets caused several people to have to withdraw from the Big Bend workshop. We have filled a number of spaces from our waiting list but still have ONE SPACE AVAILABLE. David Muench has wanted to go to Big Bend with us for years since it's one of his favorite places. Go learn why!

WEBSITE PHOTOS UPDATED

We're excited to announce that all of the photography galleries on our website have been updated. About 1,800 images were added to the site, which as you can imagine was quite an undertaking. We tried to include one or two images in the Participant Gallery from everyone who submitted work over the last two years. If you submitted photos in the last 5 months, your images will be included in the next website update, and will be considered for use in the 2007 brochure.

Our Workshop Gallery has also been expanded dramatically, and now includes examples of images from the majority of our workshops. We hope it will be helpful to you when it comes to selecting a trip to attend.

Inside the galleries, be sure to mouse over each of the nine small thumbnails to see larger images:

Enjoy the work of the many fine photographers included in the galleries, and we'll be back to chat with you again next month.
