January 31, 2006

Hello again from your friends at Arizona Highways Photo Workshops. My goodness, it's been a banner year here so far. We've had 9 sold-out workshops on the schedule, two of which have already been conducted (we can't wait to see the pictures!). If you're still interested in a trip this year please call or email us soon to reserve your space. We'd hate for you to miss out.

SEQUOIAS / KINGS CANYON
We know our participants are always looking for great places to take pictures. That's why it's hard to understand why less than a handful of you have shown interest in a really spectacular workshop - the Sequoias/Kings Canyon trip in May. Our volunteers obviously know how good it's going to be, since more of them requested to escort this workshop than any of the others we're conducting this year. Having gone on it myself in 2001 I can tell you it's an amazing experience. One favorite memory from the trip was climbing into the heart of a still-living sequoia tree that had been gutted by fire. The towering giant enveloped me in its age and majesty, and it was a truly humbling experience. Watching sunset light up the face of Moro Rock, or a waterfall take a 90-degree turn before tumbling down Roaring River Falls, and wading into Tokopah Creek to photograph a fallen log are other highlights I'll always cherish. Quite unexpectedly, two of my best wildflower photos were taken on this trip, plus the dogwoods should be in bloom. Deer and bears also frequent the area.

Do you need even MORE enticement? Don't forget that our photographer, Marc Muench, who's incredibly adept with both film and digital formats, will give a number of midday classes on Photoshop techniques during the workshop. We've also decided to include all meals in the price of the trip. What more can you ask for? Check out the itinerary to learn more:

We're still finalizing the "White Sands / Tent Rocks" and "Sedona Fall Photoshop" itineraries. We hope to have those posted soon. But in the meantime, you can take a look at a few 2006 itineraries that either needed a bit of fine-tuning before being released, or had needed some revisions:
