Hi folks, just a quick note today. I know many of you are out and about enjoying a busy travel season, and I'd hate to keep you in front of your computer any longer than necessary. :-)

GARY LADD'S GRAND CANYON RAFTING TRIP -- INFO AND SPECIAL OFFER
Surprisingly enough, we still have several spaces left on the fall rafting trip with Gary Ladd, which runs September 13-24, 2007. With a combination of 2 days of pre-workshop instruction, a portfolio review, a demo on Photoshop techniques led by local expert Steve Burger, and 10 days on the river topped off with Gary Ladd's unparalleled canyon expertise, this really is one of the most intense learning experiences we offer. Gary Ladd is still very much committed to using film, which should appeal to those of you who still love that medium, but digital folk can also learn much from Gary's incredible eye, compositional instruction and deep commitment to his students' education and enjoyment.

If you need more enticement, here are some thoughts from Gary himself:
"In the Grand Canyon, every river-running season of the year offers unique charms. But my favorite time on the river is in the fall, September and October, when the river is less crowded with boaters, when the daily high air temperatures are dropping into the 80s and 90s from the 100s and 110s, when the sun angle is most useful, and when monsoon storms (with their wild winds and sudden downpours) are on the wane. In other words, fall offers a premier interlude when the canyon’s extreme environment has eased into moderation before lapsing into winter’s cold, blue light. Even the river guides are pleased to be on the river when it’s not as hot, not as crowded and not as rigorous. Fall conditions are routinely the best for a concentrated effort in photographing the Grand Canyon. It’s a great time to enjoy and document the world’s grandest canyon."

For a limited time only we are giving $100 back to anyone who convinces a friend or family member to join them on this workshop. All parties must be registered by July 25, 2007 to qualify, and the offer applies to new registrations only. Please call the office at 1-888-790-7042 for further details.

MISSION FULFILLMENT
There are a sea of photo workshop companies for you to choose from, and we're delighted you want to stay in touch with our particular organization. Unlike most of the other groups, ours is a non-profit organization and a portion of our proceeds gets put back into projects dedicated to helping Arizona Highways magazine. Recent mission fulfillment has included purchasing a new photocopier for the magazine and sponsorship of a local tourism event. In the upcoming months we anticipate funding the "Arizona Highways Awards," which are given to contributors judged to have submitted the best photography and writing published by the magazine in the last year. We will also be backing a marketing program aimed at developing new magazine subscribers. Those of you who receive Arizona Highways magazine -- either as a gift for going on one of our workshops, or as an individual subscriber -- know what a terrific publication it is, and we're proud to be associated with them and to help where we can.

On behalf of our office staff, volunteers and Board of Directors, thanks for staying in touch and have a safe and happy Fourth of July next week.
