Day
One
- We will meet in the conference room at Ouray, Colorado's
"Victorian Inn" at 5:30pm for an orientation and
slide lecture by photographer Jim Steinberg. Rooms are blocked
for you at the Victorian Inn, but are your responsibility
to pay for. You may stay elsewhere in Ouray or Ridgeway
if you wish.
Days Two
through Four
- We will leave by 7am and spend the mornings at such locations
as the Dallas Divide, Miller’s Mesa, Owl Creek Pass
(with its view of Chimney Rock) and will visit remnants
of old mining towns.
- We will return to town for lunch and to drop off film
for processing.
- Afternoons will be spent critiquing the prior day's work
and in classroom sessions. Late afternoon light will find
us capturing reflections of Red Mountain in Crystal Lake,
sunsets in the surrounding area as well as mining ruins.
Day Five
- Leave at 7:00 a.m. traveling up to the top of Imogene
Pass at 13,000 feet, stopping to absorb the breathtaking
vista.
- Continue on down the other side, stopping at the remains
of the Tomboy Mine then on to lunch in Telluride at the
Smuggler’s Cove.
- Return to Ouray via the Last Dollar Road, with its phenomenal
groves of aspens.
- After dinner, Jim will present a slide-show, set to music,
of the best work by each participant this week. Prizes will
be awarded in various categories!
- The workshop ends after this evening's session.

SPECIAL
EQUIPMENT SUGGESTIONS: Polarizing filters will help
reduce sheen on leaves, and will also help reduce hazy skies
at this altitude. A reflector can help inject light into dim
groves of trees, as appropriate.
