PHOTO WORKSHOP - Colorado Wildflowers

with Jim Steinberg
July 21-25, 2005
Cost: $1,195

Day One

  • We will meet in the conference room at Ouray, Colorado's "Victorian Inn" at 5:30pm for an orientation and slide lecture by photographer Jim Steinberg. Rooms are blocked for you at the Victorian Inn, but are your responsibility to pay for. You may stay elsewhere in Ouray or Ridgeway if you wish.

Days Two & Three

  • We'll leave at 5:30am for early morning light in the high alpine meadows, photographing flowers, mountain vistas and remnants of old mining towns and encampments.
  • Weather permitting, we will have a picnic lunch followed by a return to our hotel to drop off film for processing. Mid-afternoons will be spent critiquing prior day’s work and in teaching sessions with Jim.
  • Optional evening activities may include late afternoon light opportunities in the surrounding area (again, weather permitting).

Day Four

  • Sleep in! We'll leave at 7am for Imogene Pass, which takes us up to 13,000 feet.
  • We'll head down past the remains of the Tomboy Mine and into Telluride for lunch at the Smuggler’s Cove.

Day Five

  • Leave at 5:30am to return to favorite sites visited during the first two days to shoot those images you want to improve upon.
  • Return to hotel for lunch and final critique of work processed.
  • Gather for dinner at 6pm, followed by a slide show of all participants’ work created and presented by our leader, Jim Steinberg. The workshop officially ends tonight, but checkout is the following day.

Includes:

  • Photographic instruction
  • JEEP tours to 4WD locations
  • Breakfast snacks
  • Lunches and in-route snacks

GETTING THERE: Participants may choose to drive, or to fly via United Airlines (Denver to Montrose). It will be necessary to rent a car in Montrose if you fly and hopefully carpool for the one-hour drive south to Ouray where our workshop begins.
While we do provide JEEP tours to less-easily-accessed locations, other transportation is not included in the price of the workshop, and is the participant's responsibility.
