PHOTO WORKSHOP -  Arches of the Southwest

September 12 - 16, 2007
Cost: $1,875

Reservations have been made in Grand Junction the evening of September 11, and are included in the workshop price.

Day One

  • Leave Grand Junction, Colorado at 8am bound for Moab, Utah.
  • On the way, we'll see the Colorado River against the towering walls of Westwater Canyon.
  • After checking into the hotel and lunch we will have an introductory slide show by the photographer and a question and answer session.
  • Early evening and sunset photography will be at Devil's Garden, in Arches National Park.


Day Two

  • We'll set out early to explore North Arch, South Arch, Turret Arch and Double Arch Trail in Arches National Park.
  • We may also stop to see the petroglyphs at Wolf Ranch and to visit the Tom Till Gallery in Moab.
  • Mid-afternoon to sunset will be spent photographing stunning Delicate Arch.


Day Three

  • Today’s stops may include Dead Horse Point Overlook in Dead Horse Point State Park.
  • Mesa Arch, the Green River Overlook and Grand View Point Overlook in the “Island in the Sky” District of Canyonlands National Park will be the main focus today.
  • We’ll likely be out all day, taking lunch into the field.

Day Four

  • We will drive 1½ hours south to Needles Overlook, and will also stop to photograph the petroglyphs at Newspaper Rock.
  • Before sunset we will make a foray to Wilson Arch.

Day Five

  • We’ll travel back down Scenic Byway 128, to photograph sweet light falling on the sheer red sandstone walls framing the Colorado River.
  • The workshop will end in Grand Junction sometime in mid to late afternoon.
