TENTATIVE ITINERARY
DAY ONE
- 8am Bus Departs Phoenix.
- 12:30 pm Arrive at Second Mesa for Lunch
- 1:30 pm Guided tour of Walpi
- 3 - 4pm Return to Hopi Cultural Center for Check-in.
- Free time to visit the Hopi Cultural Center Museum.
- 5:30pm Dinner at the Hopi Cultural Center
- 7pm HCC Conference room for a presentation.
DAY TWO
- 6am Breakfast
- 8:30 am Bus departs for Tsakurshavi, the home of "Don’t Worry Be Hopi" products.
- 9am A lecture by “Pahaana” Joe Day on the subjects of Hopi Agriculture and Dry Farming Techniques.
- 10am Lecture on Hopi Katsinam (Kachinas) by artist Wallace Hyeoma a traditional Hopi Katsinam carver.
- 12pm Lunch
- 1:15pm Bus leaves for Third Mesa
- 1:45pm Debbie Drye leads a tour of Old Oriabi founded in 1145 A.D.
- 4pm Photo Opportunity on Third Mesa cliffs.
- 6pm Bus leaves for Moenkopi and Tuba City
- 7pm Dinner at the Hogan Restaurant and Historic Tuba City Trading Post
DAY THREE
- Today will be devoted to photographing a number of Hopi artisans at work and in their homes. Visits to a silversmith and potter are scheduled.
DAY FOUR
- 6am Photo Opportunity at Blue Canyon and the Painted Desert.
- 9am Back to Tuba City for breakfast and departure.
- Lunch in Flagstaff
- 2:30pm Photograph Wupatki Ruins, Sunset Crater and Wukoki ruins with a world-champion hoop dancer as our model.
- 6pm Bus Departs for Phoenix
