March 3 - 8, 2008
Cost: $2,195
Friends will have rooms blocked in Las Vegas for the evening of March 2nd to assure an early start on the 3rd.
Day One
- We'll depart Las Vegas early for our trip to Death Valley. We'll gather at noon for lunch and check-in at Furnace Creek Ranch.
- Late afternoon and early evening activities will likely include time at Artist Drive, Zabriskie Point, and possibly Twenty Mule Team Canyon.
- The photographer will conduct a slide critique of participants' work in the evening.
Day Two
- Sunrise and early morning activities may include photographing at Badwater, the Devil’s Golf Course and the Salt Flats.
- An afternoon at Twenty Mule Team Canyon is possible if not visited the previous evening.
Day Three
- We'll drive to Lone Pine in Owens Valley, checking in at Dow Villa Hotel.
- Our search for wildflowers and arches will take us to photograph Mt. Whitney and the Alabama Hills.
- An evening photo critique is likely.
Day Four
- The tufa columns of Mono Lake beckon today. We'll have an opportunity to photograph them at sunset and again at sunrise, for two great chances to capture the unusual shapes.
- We'll stay the night in Lee Vining.
Days Five & Six
- Journeying back to Death Valley, we hope to visit the Sand Dunes, Hells Gate and Mosaic Canyon.
- A farewell dinner on our last night will let us say goodbye to friends old and new.
- On the last morning we may have a sunrise shoot, followed by check-out and return to Las Vegas.
