Join
us on an excursion to Hunt's Mesa, a remote site within Monument
Valley and a place where few others ever go. Our outfitters
will transport us via four-wheel drive vehicles to the top
of Hunts Mesa, where you can gaze down upon the vast and varied
landscape of Monument Valley. From here, the valley floor
seems to stretch clear to the horizon, punctuated only by
the mesas and monoliths that
have ingrained themselves in our imaginations. It's a view
like no other, and the sunrises and sunsets are particularly
dramatic and photogenic in this panoramic setting, making
capturing the beauty of this landscape one of the most challenging
tasks you will ever face as a landscape photographer. Our
private camp on top of the mesa - provided by Crawley
Outfitters - will provide all the necessities, including a
campfire dinner. Our time here will be the highlight of the
trip.
The next day we
will leave the mesa, returning to the valley floor. Here we
will explore Mystery Valley, likely stopping at such favorite
locales for photography as Pancake Rocks and Honeymoon Arch.
Our last two days will find us at Goulding's Lodge with our
private guide, roaming with our cameras to capture the powerful
images that surround us in Monument
Valley. We will discover graceful, shadow-ridged sand dunes
and may photograph some of the valley's distinctive formations
with such intriguing names as "Ear of the Wind" or "the Sun's
Eye." We also hope to visit the home of a Navajo weaver who
welcomes us to take pictures as she creates a uniquely designed
traditional rug. Sunset may find us at the memorable Totem
Pole and Yei Bi Chei site.
Highlights
of the workshop may also include side trips to several of
our photographers' favorite spots, and the potential to photograph
the full moon.
