Join Arizona Highways photographer and workshop instructor George Stocking on a breathtaking and inspiring tour of the magnificent Sierra Nevada of eastern California. You’ll visit the Alabama Hills, where unusually shaped boulders and arches line the foothills of the Eastern Sierras, framing the grandeur of the highest peak in the contiguous United States, Mt. Whitney.
The amazing scenery continues in the otherworldly, dolomite-strewn magnificence of the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest in the White Mountains, where you can stand on a 12,000-foot ridge at dawn and watch bristlecone-pine trunks, polished by wind-driven ice, glow with the purest, reddest light imaginable.
With George’s expert guidance, you’ll explore the shores of Lake Sabrina and North and South Lakes in the shadow of towering mountains, marvel at the amazing geology of the Devils Postpile, shoot the sunrise reflected off of the mirrored waters of Tenaya Lake and investigate the weathered wood and ancient artifacts in the ghost town of Bodie. You’ll also enjoy an inspiring diversion to Tuolumne Meadows to photograph the granite of Yosemite reflected in the still waters. These are just a few of the countless natural wonders that await the industrious photographers who are fortunate enough to attend this exciting event.
This workshop is the perfect primer on the highlights and hidden gems of the eastern Sierra Nevada. It covers lots of territory, and with George Stocking serving as your expert guide and instructor you’re sure to bring home great images of a memorable trip.
