PHOTO WORKSHOP - Hunt's Mesa & Monument Valley Itinerary

with LeRoy DeJolie
May 20 - 24, 2009
Cost: $2,395
Volunteer Trip Leaders: Stephanos Antoniades
and Michael Greene

Day One

* We'll begin loading gear at 7:30 a.m. and will depart Phoenix by 8 a.m.
* On our way to Kayenta we'll stop at historic Cameron Trading Post for lunch. Navajo tacos are the specialty of the house.
* LeRoy will take you on a sunset shoot at a fabulous location near Kayenta.

David GoodellDay Two

* Our outfitter will pick us up in the morning and we'll spend the day photographing and exploring Mystery Valley.
* We'll arrive at our campsite high atop Hunt’s Mesa in plenty of time to capture a spectacular sunset.

Doug BacsoDay Three

* Photographing a magnificent sunrise from the unique perspective offered by Hunt’s Mesa will be our morning's mission.
* After breakfast we will stop to photograph a number of wonderful sights such as Spider Arch on our way back to Kayenta. Once there, we will rejoin our bus and continue our journey to breathtaking Monument Valley, for much needed rest, nourishment and possibly have an opportunity to shoot sunset over The Mittens.

Mark OrlowskiDay Four

* Monument Valley's many attractions are our subject today during a full-day tour of the valley. We'll enjoy trips to such well-known areas as the sand dunes, Totem Pole, the Mittens and more. We may also visit the home of Navajo weaver Susie Yazzie.

Mary and Neal CisselDay Five

* Another half-day tour of Monument Valley gives you one last chance to capture the disctinctive character of the landscape. If time permits, we'll stop at Coal Mine Canyon on the return drive.
