PHOTO WORKSHOP - Oregon Wine Country and Coast Itinerary

with J. Peter Mortimer
October 1 - 5, 2009
Cost: $2,295
Volunteer Trip Leaders: John Rinehart and Lynn Rinehart

We recommend students fly into Portland on September 30. Rooms are blocked in Newberg, OR at The Allison Resort & Spa, but are the student's responsibility to pay for.

Day One

  • We will meet at The Allison Resort & Spa at 8am for orientation.
  • We’ll begin photographing at the vineyards, endeavoring to capture the picturesque scenery of the area and also the entire wine making process—from vine to glass.

  • Shooting at the vineyards will continue, allowing us to take advantage of the many available opportunities. Instructor J. Peter Mortimer will help you craft terrific compositions, and will conduct image critiques to help you refine your photo technique.

  • We’ll take an overnight break from the rigors of the grape harvest to travel to the nearby Oregon coast where lighthouses, fishing boats and rugged beach formations will become our photographic subjects. (This scheduled departure from the vineyards may happen on a different day, depending on weather conditions and other factors.)
  • We’ll toast our workshop at a final, farewell dinner.

Day Five

  • It’s back to wine country where the harvest will be in high gear. Excursions to alluring wine cellars and cask rooms are planned if time permits.
  • The workshop ends around noon, allowing you time to return to Portland for a flight home.
