PHOTO WORKSHOP - The Palouse Itinerary

Kerrick JamesDay One

  • Meet in Spokane for orientation and first critique. Details about our meeting location will be sent to you before the workshop begins.
  • After lunch, we’ll drive south, through the Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge, and through Tekoa and Oakesdale en route to Steptoe Butte State Park.  
  • Our first day will conclude with dinner and lodging in Colfax.

  • Sunrise will find us at Steptoe Butte, after which we’ll head back to Colfax for breakfast.
  • We’ll roam for rest of the day along Cronk Road, S. Palouse River Road, Green Hollow Road, Eden Valley Road, then a possible sunset session from Kamiak Butte State Park.

Day Three

  • Our day begins again at Steptoe Butte.
  • Next, we’ll visit the ghost town of Elberton, then make stops at town of Palouse, and the sculptured farm implement fences of Uniontown.
  • There will be a full moon this night!

creditDay Four

  • We’ll photograph at sunrise in Uniontown.
  • The rest of the morning will be spent roaming the southern Palouse.
  • In the afternoon, we’ll drive to Palouse River Falls State Park.  
  • From there, we could return to either Colfax or Pullman for the night.

Day Five

  • We’ll have a last sunrise shoot at Steptoe Butte.
  • Then we’ll revisit the best locations on our way north, driving again through Turnbull National Wildlife Reserve for some birding photo opportunities.  
  • The workshop will conclude by returning to Spokane in late afternoon or early evening.
