PHOTO WORKSHOP - Autumn at the North Rim Itinerary

with Peter Ensenberger
September 29 - October 3, 2010
Cost: $2,095
Register by: July 29, 2010

The workshop departs from and returns to Phoenix, AZ. Departure is at 8:00 a.m. and we will be loading gear at 7:30 a.m. If you are from out of town we recommend you book lodging for the night before the workshop begins to ensure you are on time for departure and also the night the workshop ends as you will probably return late in the afternoon or early evening and we would not want you to miss your flight home if you are delayed for any reason.

TENTATIVE ITINERARY
Please be aware that shooting locations stated in this itinerary may change. Each day we will determine which locations are best based on lighting conditions, in the hopes of giving you the best opportunities possible.

Day 1

  • Flagstaff's San Francisco Peaks will give us our first hint of color, with their sprinkling of golden highlights deep within the folds of the mountains.
  • Lunch will be at the historic Cameron Trading Post.
  • We'll reach the Grand Canyon by late afternoon, giving us time to enjoy late light photography and a slide presentation by our instructor and possibly a critique of your images brought from home.

Day 2

  • We begin our day early for sunrise shooting along the Bright Angel Point Trail.
  • Then we will drive to the trailhead for a 20-30 minute easy hike to Uncle Jim Point.
  • After the hike we will head back to the lodge for lunch.
  • After lunch we will drive to Marble Flats/Widforss Trail for more fall color.
  • Sunset will be along Transept Trail.
  • A possible critique of your images could follow dinner

Day 3

  • Another early morning for sunrise shooting at Angel’s Window.
  • After we have finished with Angel’s Window we will continue on to Cape Royal.
  • An optional hike on Cliff Spring Trail then on to Greenland Lake for reflections of fall color.
  • Lunch today will be a picnic at Greenland Lake.
  • After lunch we will move to Point Imperial.
  • Back to Cape Royal for sunset shooting.
  • Another possible critique of your images could follow dinner

Day 4

  • Once again it is up and out early for sunrise at Marble Viewpoint.
  • Soft morning light on the east Rim Viewpoint/Arizona Trail.
  • hen on to Dog Canyon.
  • Lunch will be another picnic at the East Rim Viewpoint.
  • After lunch we will drive to the aspen meadows along West Side Rd.
  • Another possible critique of your images could follow dinner

Day 5

  • One more early sunrise shoot along Bright Angel Point and Transept Trails.
  • We will check out of the hotel at 8:00 a.m. and begin our trip back to Phoenix making a pit stop at Lee’s Ferry.
  • Lunch will be at Cameron Trading Post again.

The workshop is expected to return to Phoenix by approximately 8:00 pm. Again we recommend out of state visitors book lodging for this night and return home the following day so you do not risk missing your flight in case we are delayed for any reason.
