PHOTO WORKSHOP - Hunt's Mesa & Monument Valley Itinerary

with LeRoy DeJolie
May 24-28, 2010
Cost: $2,395
Register by: February 24, 2010

This workshop is sold out. Please contact our office to be placed on a waiting list.

The workshop departs from and returns to Phoenix, AZ. Departure is at 8:00 a.m. and we will be loading gear at 7:30 a.m. If you are from out of town we recommend you book lodging for the night before the workshop begins to ensure you are on time for departure and also the night the workshop ends as you will probably return late in the afternoon or early evening and we would not want you to miss your flight home if you are delayed for any reason.

Please be aware that shooting locations stated in this itinerary may change. Each day we will determine which locations are best based on lighting conditions, in the hopes of giving you the best opportunities possible.

Day One

  • On our way to Kayenta we'll stop at historic Cameron Trading Post for lunch. Navajo tacos are the specialty of the house.
  • LeRoy will take you on a sunset shoot at a fabulous location near Kayenta.

    Hal TretbarDay Two
  • Our outfitter will pick us up in the morning and we'll spend the day photographing and exploring Mystery Valley.
  • We'll arrive at our campsite high atop Hunt’s Mesa in plenty of time to capture a spectacular sunset.

  • Photographing a magnificent sunrise from the unique perspective offered by Hunt’s Mesa will be our morning's mission.
  • After breakfast we will stop to photograph a number of wonderful sights such as Spider Arch on our way back to Kayenta. Once there, we will rejoin our bus and continue our journey to breathtaking Monument Valley, for much needed rest, nourishment and an opportunity to shoot sunset over The Mittens.

Day Four

  • Monument Valley's many attractions are our subject today during a full-day tour of the valley. We'll enjoy trips to such well-known areas as the sand dunes, Totem Pole, the Mittens and more. We may also visit the home of Navajo weaver Susie Yazzie.

    Fred Neveu

Day Five

  • Another half-day tour of Monument Valley gives you one last chance to capture the disctinctive character of the landscape. If time permits, we'll stop at Coal Mine Canyon on the return drive.

The workshop is expected to return to Phoenix by approximately 8:00 p.m. Again we recommend out of state visitors book lodging for this night and return home the following day so you do not risk missing your flight in case we are delayed for any reason.
