PHOTO WORKSHOP - Preposterous Landscapes Itinerary

with Gary Ladd
October 17 - 22, 2010
Cost: $2,495
Register by: August 17, 2010

The workshop departs from and returns to Phoenix, AZ. Departure is at 12:00 p.m. and we will be loading gear at 11:30 a.m. If you are from out of town we recommend you book lodging for the night before the workshop begins to ensure you are on time for departure and also the night the workshop ends as you will probably return late in the afternoon or early evening and we would not want you to miss your flight home if you are delayed for any reason.

Gary LaddTENTATIVE ITINERARY
Please be aware that shooting locations stated in this itinerary may change. Each day we will determine which locations are best based on lighting conditions, in the hopes of giving you the best opportunities possible.

Day One
We'll leave from Phoenix at noon, getting us to our hotel in time for dinner. Please eat lunch before you arrive. Gary will give as photography presentation in the evening.

Day Two

  • Meet at the lobby early and shuttle up to the Glen Canyon dam for a guided trip down the Colorado River. We'll be on the water from about 8:30am until about 3pm.
  • Surrounding us will be soaring sandstone walls and the sole remaining pristine part of Glen Canyon, with petroglyphs and the living river as just two of our many subjects.
  • A critique session will follow dinner.

  • A sunrise session at Badger Rapids Overlook is likely.
  • A hike will take us into Marble Canyon's Cathedral Wash. Take your time and you will likely be able to do the whole thing. There are also plenty of good stopping points along the way if you don't want to push yourself to complete the hike.
  • Lunch will be in the field.

Day Four
  • After an early morning shoot near the Vermilion Cliffs, we'll move on to Page, Arizona, where we'll visit Lower Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend.
  • Sunset will find us photographing the beehive formations near Little Cut.
  • The hotel tonight is in Page, Arizona.

    Day Five
  • All day today we'll be traveling by boats on Lake Powell. Places we'll visit will include Weathering Pit Ridge and Cookie Jar Butte, with Padre Bay being our focus. Leave it to Gary’s expertise to find the best places to go based on lake levels!

  • Sunrise will find us along Lakeshore Drive on the edge of Lake Powell.
  • After breakfast we'll head down into the sinuous corridors of Lower Antelope Canyon once again.

The workshop is expected to return to Phoenix by approximately 8:00 pm. Again we recommend out of town visitors book lodging for this night and return home the following day so you do not risk missing your flight in case we are delayed for any reason.
