PHOTO WORKSHOP - Rafting the Grand Canyon

© Suzanne Mathiawith Gary Ladd
September 12-21, 2010
Cost: $3,795
Register by: July 12, 2010

Undeniable this is truly a “Trip of a Lifetime”. The beauty of the Grand Canyon is never more evident than when floating through its depths on the mighty Colorado River.

© Ralph Lee Hopkins Our explorations will lead us to premier photographic vantage points ranging from constricted gorges and hidden waterfalls to refreshing pools to delicate seeps. Gary’s passion for Astronomy and Geology adds a priceless dimension to this experience. He will help you craft images of a lifetime on this unique rafting adventure.

© Suzanne MathiaOn a typical day, you will rise early to hot coffee to help you work in the early light. Then it’s back to camp and breakfast before loading the boat. You will stop for lunch and explore the quiet pools and fascinating petroglyphs found in many of the side canyons. Camps will be selected each night for their proximity to photo opportunities where we will enjoy dinner at the river’s edge. After dinner Gary will speak to the group about astronomy, geology, and human history of the canyon as well as wildlife found in the area.

EQUIPMENT CONSIDERATION: Warming filters will help correct for the deep blue shadows within the canyon and a graduated neutral density filter may help even out scenes that contain sky. A packet of material will be sent at registration that explains in depth what you will need to bring.
