Please be aware that shooting locations stated in this itinerary may change. Each day we will determine which locations are best based on lighting conditions, in the hopes of giving you the best opportunities possible.

Day One

  • The workshop begins at noon at our Sedona hotel with lunch, followed by an introductory presentation on “Processing Raw Files.”
  • We’ll photograph Cathedral Rock at sunset from famous Red Rock Crossing.
  • For those interested in extra practice, the lab is available until 9pm tonight.

  • Sunrise will find us in the Munds Mountain Wilderness Area, with the recognizable rock formations of Courthouse Butte and Bell Rock as our subjects.
  • After breakfast, we’ll spend the rest of the morning and most of the afternoon learning about “Image Adjustments” and “Photoshop Workflow” through short presentations and hands-on lab work.
  • For sunset, we’ll do a short, easy 0.5 mile hike to photograph the rock spires and crimson cliffs in the Marg’s Draw area.
  • For those interested in downloading photos and extra practice on Photoshop techniques, the lab will again be available until 9 p.m.

Day Three

  • In the hopes of capturing beautiful fall colors, we’ll spend the entire morning photographing scenic locations along the West Fork of Oak Creek.
  • The afternoon will be spent in the lab learning and practicing “Layer Masks and Gradients” and “Prepping Images for Printing.”
  • After our group’s farewell dinner, the lab is open until 9pm tonight for those interested in extra practice.

Day Four

  • For sunrise, we may photograph Cathedral Rock from Back of Beyond Road to get a different view of this classic Sedona rock formation. Others may choose to stay in the lab to work on more Photoshop enhancements.
  • After breakfast, our last lab session will focus on a few more Photoshop Tips & Tricks, a critique of students' prints, and a Question and Answer session.
  • The workshop will conclude around noon.
